Not sure if it's right for you?
Our clinicians will assess your answers before any treatment is prescribed.
Check your eligibilityWhat is the Wegovy pill?
Wegovy tablets are a prescription weight loss treatment containing semaglutide. They are taken once a day and are designed for adults living with obesity, or some adults who are overweight and also have a weight-related health condition.
Semaglutide works in a similar way to a natural hormone called GLP-1. It helps you feel fuller, reduces hunger and can make it easier to eat smaller portions. Treatment should be used with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.
Prescription treatment
Wegovy is supplied only after a clinician has confirmed that it is safe and suitable for you.
Who is the Wegovy pill for?
It may be suitable for adults with:
- a body mass index (BMI) of 30kg/m² or above; or
- a BMI from 27kg/m² to under 30kg/m² and at least one weight-related condition, such as high blood pressure, abnormal blood fats, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes.
Eligibility is not based on BMI alone. Your medical history, current medicines and treatment goals will also be reviewed.
How effective is oral Wegovy?
Results vary from person to person. Your outcome will depend on factors including your starting weight, dose, response to treatment and the lifestyle changes you make alongside it.
How much does the Wegovy pill cost?
Each pack contains 30 tablets. The price includes the clinical assessment and prescription, where appropriate.

Treatment normally starts at 1.5mg once daily. If tolerated, the dose is increased in stages—usually after at least four weeks at each strength—to 4mg, then 9mg and finally 25mg once daily. Your prescriber may delay an increase if side effects are troublesome.

How to take the tablet
- Take one tablet in the morning after fasting for at least 8 hours.
- Swallow it whole with a small sip of water. Do not split, crush or chew it.
- Wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking or taking other oral medicines.
Do not take more than one Wegovy tablet a day. Follow the instructions supplied with your medicine and contact our clinical team if you are unsure.
Switching to the Wegovy pill
Do not try to convert your current injection dose into a tablet dose yourself. The effect of switching cannot be predicted precisely and your prescriber needs to consider your current medicine, dose, side effects and treatment response.
Already using Wegovy or Mounjaro?
Tell us exactly what you take and when your last dose was. The product information describes a possible switch from Wegovy 2.4mg weekly to the 25mg daily tablet, starting one week after the final injection, but this must still be approved by your prescriber. There is no universal Mounjaro-to-Wegovy conversion table.
Wegovy pill or Wegovy injection?

- No needles
- Must be taken after fasting and followed by a 30-minute wait
Wegovy injection

Is the Wegovy pill safe?
Wegovy tablets are licensed by the MHRA for weight management in eligible adults. Like every prescription medicine, they can cause side effects and are not suitable for everyone.
Tell your clinician about all health conditions and medicines before treatment. Wegovy should not be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you plan to become pregnant, semaglutide should be stopped at least two months beforehand on medical advice.
Seek urgent medical help for severe and persistent stomach pain, a serious allergic reaction or sudden loss/worsening of vision. Read the patient information leaflet supplied with your medicine.
